IMPORTANT MESSAGE from Pastor Howard-FEBRUARY 2010
2010 has gotten off to a great start here at Living Rock Church. We started the year with our annual time of fasting and prayer and God has answered mightily already. We have seen individuals come to the Altar and make a committment to Christ every Sunday this year. There have been at least 12 decisions for Christ and maybe a few more. We scheduled a baptismal service for the Last Sunday of 2009 and we baptized 6 that Sunday, but a couple individuals who wanted to be baptized weren't able to be here that Sunday. So, we kept the water in the tank, added some bleach and held another baptismal service the first Sunday of 2010 and baptized 5 more that day. We now have a number of others who are waiting for our next baptismal service which will be later this month. Wow! God has been so good.
I realize getting people to pray and even getting them to follow our Lord in water baptism isn't the real telling factor. It really means something when the ones who pray a sinners prayer and obey in the ordinance of water baptism begin to grow in the Lord and bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. We also say many people accept Christ in several funerals that we preached in the last month +. Once again, the proof is in the lasting fruit that is manifest. God is the one who has to sort our whether someone really was sincere or if they were just responding to an emotional or even intellectual appeal. Clearly, we need to pray fervently for those new ones who accepted Christ. We obviously, try to follow up on them when possible to try to nurture them along and provide a Godly arm to lean on in their walk with Christ.
We are excited about what God has already done for Living Rock Church in 2010. I am expecting a great outpouring of God's Spirit all year long. We desperately need true revival in our lives, our church, our city and our country. Nothing short of a God sent soverign revival will save America and stay the judgment of God. We all deserve God's judgment, but because true Christians have repented and turned to Him, He has given us mercy instead of judgment. If America truely repents, God will also have mercy. It will take a God sent revival for America to repent. This revival starts with the church. The Apostle Peter said that judgment must begin at the House of the Lord and if the righteous scarcely be saved, what shall become of the ungodly and sinner? He also said the God is not slack concerning His promises (promises relative to judgment!!) but He is not willing that any should perish but that all should be saved.
We pray regularly that God will send revival to every church that loves God and loves His Word. This is where it has to start. It has to start with God's people. The Lord promised in II Chron. 7:14 that if His people who are called by His name would repent and turn from their wicked ways that He would forgive their sins and heal their land. Our country needs forgiveness and spiritual healing. As we continue on in this new year, we all need to believe God for true revival. You might ask if I believe that this could really happen and I would answer most definitely. Why? Because I sincerely believe that it is God's will to send revival. There was another time in the Old Testament when God was about to bring judgment on Israel and it says that He sought a man who would stand the gap because He prefers mercy to judgment. The sad end of that story is that God marveled that He found none!!! God is looking for some people who will stand the gap. Will you join with us in standing in that gap for America? I know there are many others across America who are praying fervently for revival. I believe God is going to answer and I can't wait to see how He does it and this could be the year. Have a great February.
God bless you in His service,
Pastor Frank Howard
